PRINCE GEORGE – A new course at the College of New Caledonia is bringing automotive technicians up to speed with the latest electric vehicle technology.
The Electric Vehicle Technology and Safety Course is the first of its kind in Northern BC bringing working professionals a hands-on learning experience with EV’s.
With more and more hitting the road every day, the students know they had to learn how in order to provide service, in the same way, they do to regular gas and diesel vehicles.
The goal of the course is to prepare tech’s to safely diagnose and service high voltage electric vehicles. For example, 50 volts is enough to deliver a fatal blow to a human, and EV’s may have more than ten times that at a given time
The program is funded in part by the province in order to increase the number of technicians who have the ability to work on electric vehicles with more headed on the road in the near future.
