Tiny Township is offering four free workshops for adults over 55 in partnership with Gateway Centre for Learning.
Covering a variety of topics, the workshops are being hosted at the Wyebridge Community Centre and run on consecutive Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
While the first workshop offered as part of the township’s Coffee and Connect program that focused on accessibility has already occurred, next Tuesday’s session looks at social media.
This workshop will introduce participants to a selection of social-media platforms and explain how they can be used to share information, ideas, interests and other forms of expression.
“Knowing how to use social media to stay in touch with friends and family,  promote your cause or keep up with the news is an essential skill,” the township noted in a release.
On April 5, participants will explore digital photography basics, centring around cellphone use.
“A smartphone (and/or tablet) is probably the most convenient camera you can have. You will always have it with you, it fits in your pocket, and it does not require any manual adjustments before you can take a photo.
“Learn how your phone's camera  works so you will be ready when you want to take a photo. Plus, learn about 10 everyday uses for your phone's camera.”
The sessions conclude April 12 with a focus on online shopping, which is “a convenient way” to buy almost anything from the comfort of your home.
“And while there are some risks with shopping online, there are also many ways to protect yourself and your financial information. Join this workshop and learn how to have the best possible experience shopping online.”
